28/11/2011 TKS Presents: ‘Young & Old’ tracklist

Starting not with a bang, but with a grinding wallop this week, a track which stood out in it’s brutal glory from all the sounds to follow as the theme of Young & Old was explored. I still recall when I first heard the Young God 12″, the sound so extreme I knew it had to be added to my record collection as soon as possible. Not something to play over and over, but one for the occasional head-cleansing blast…..

A mellow way to bring the programme to a close, in stark contrast to the beginning…..Quite a diverse dozen and rather an indulgent one too, including tracks I never tire of listening to, such as Joni Mitchell’s poetic portrait of grouchy old blues singer Furry, propped up in his Memphis hospital bed, and Midlake’s ‘Young Bride’ – any song containing reference to snowshoes has a good chance of hooking me!

For now, wishing you all many a sonic wonder – Shiny.
