19/12/2011 ‘Bleak Midwinter’ tracklist

Yes, taking a title from Christina Rossetti’s carol wasn’t the best way to attract scores of listeners to the show. I was tempted to use something a touch merrier but, unlike Tindersticks, who decided to call their album ‘Can Our Love…’ instead of the original ‘Dying Slowly’, possibly with the effect such a jolly title would have upon sales in mind, after several long seconds of contemplation, I stuck with the original. First thought, best thought. I’ll go with Chogyam Trungpa, Kerouac, Ginsberg and Christina Rossetti – though perhaps her first musing was far from ‘in the bleak midwinter’ – ‘in the bin you go ‘gloomy December’!’

Enough musing, for those interested in the music, here are the facts which matter – the tracks played, starting with:

The story of Danny the Carwiper’s search to score a Christmas present brought the last programme of 2011 to an end. From a Brno bright, but seeming colder in the wake of Vaclav Havel’s passing a couple of days ago, wish you many a sonic gem and reason to be cheerful in the coming year. Shiny 20/12/2011
