25/02/2013 ’80’s Future’ tracklist

If the 80’s ever left us, they’re certainly back now. A few weeks ago the duo Mushy played a set at local club Boro which could have come from 1983, not 2013. Hypnagogic artists channel sounds from the era, including some perhaps best left there, in their sonic explorations…..
This week’s show featured acts who have remained popular since the early 80’s, alongside others whose music was originally available on cassette or limited editions on vinyl, but who are now gaining greater exposure due to the wonders of the internet and the work of certain dedicated sleuths tracking down worthy sounds from the era…..

That piece by London duo A.R. Kane, from 1988 but sounding as hypnagogic as many a current track, took us out for another week. Thanks this time are due to several people – Kevin L. Guthrie and Altres, Stephen Jarvis for the Nagamatzu, and Josh Cheon of San Francisco label Dark Entries for the track from the forthcoming  album by Swedish outfit Kitchen & The Plastic Spoons – the help of whom is much-appreciated!
Until next time, wishing anyone reading this many a delightful sonic experience, S.
