25/3/2013 ‘Northern Lights’ and 1/4/2013 ‘Numbers’ tracklists

An April shower falling as I write; not the rain which might be expected at this time of year, but light snow as winter continues to linger. Perhaps spring was the sunny outburst enjoyed for a couple of hours one afternoon a few weeks back – we’ll go from chill days to ice-cream melting heat within the time it takes for Sister Ray to blast cobwebs from sleep-slowed brains….
Still, as the white stuff  persists, it’s appropriate accompaniment for the belated listing of the tracks which featured on The Kitchen Sink ten days ago, a diverse selection from Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. The last was our starting point with:

That fine piece by Icelandic producer, composer, musician, and Bedroom Community founder Sigurdsson brought the sixty-minute sonic journey around the roof of Europe to a close. Thanks were due this time to Josh Cheon of San Francisco label Dark Entries Records for the Belaboris and Q4U tracks. Much-appreciated!

On to the list of tracks played on this week’s show, which, focussing on numbers, had more than one or two excellent pieces to choose from. I won’t mention those which didn’t make the final cut because there are more than enough to fill another hour; yes, ‘Numbers 2’ could be just around the corner!
Those played were as follows, beginning, as seemed natural, with zero:

1)BENGA – ZERO M2 /from ‘Diary of An Afro Warrior’/ Tempa 2008

And that mellow piece from the delightfully-named Tokyo trio brought our numerical theme to a close. At least for now….
Til next time, wishing you all many a sweet sonic experience (here in South Moravia birds are singing hopefully, that hope perhaps close to desperation as the snow continues to flutter down!), S.
