16/9/2013 ‘BluesVoyage’ tracklist

Autumnal colours, but a chill more akin to that expected early November spiking the air.  You can’t even count on beautiful late-summer weather, usually coinciding with the end of the cricket season in the UK, in September anymore. Reason for the blues? Maybe not, but this week on The Kitchen Sink sixty minutes of diverse pieces including the ‘B’ word were on the sonic menu!
Kicking things off, one of the tracks which marked the appearance of a raucous outfit taking their name from Memphis Slim‘s ‘Grinder Man Blues‘……

More info: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Maurizio+Abate http://maurizioabate.site90.com/

That almost full version of the epic track, released as a one-sided LP, by Italian musician Maurizio Abate, who coaxed a fantastic, mesmeric noise from his converted hurdy-gurdy when playing at Brno club Sklenena Louka a year or so ago, brought the week’s sixty-minute show to an end. With T. Rex providing a glam element, and Grails a psychedelic dimension, the ten tracks covered suitably diverse territory despite their common roots!
Until next time, wish you all many a sonic delight, S.

The Kitchen Sink is broadcast on Brno radio station Radio R on Monday evenings at 22.15 CET/9.15p.m UK. Click here to listen: http://www.radior.cz
