30/3/2015 TKS Presents: ‘Alien Soundtracks’ tracklist

At first, there was some mulling over the title of this sonic voyage on The Kitchen Sink, the possibilities being naming it after ‘Soundtracks For The Blind’, Swans monolithic 1996 work, or Chrome‘s cyberpunk debut (as a duo) ‘Alien Soundtracks’; eventually, it was the latter which prevailed for the mix of pieces from soundtracks, several for films involving aliens, and other slices of sound which could be described as alien with the meaning of strange. The whole sixty minutes would have provided a nice, if rather unsettling at times, soundtrack for anyone reposing on a bed or couch with the lights turned off, with this in mind, I attempted to keep  information-spiels to a minimum during the show. On to the important information, the tracks, which appropriately-enough, began with

10)Craig Leon – Ring With Three Concentric Discs /from ‘Early Electronic Works: Nommos Visiting’/
Aparte/Atlas 2013   More info: http://www.craigleon.com/

That piece, from Craig Leon‘s 1981 work ‘Nommos’, brought the hour of  transporting, sometimes a touch spooky, and always somehow alien, sounds to a close.
Til next time, wishing anyone perusing this many a sonic gem! S.
