13/4/2015 ‘Spectrum’ & 27/4/2015 ‘Let’s Get Medical’ tracklists

The Kitchen Sink didn’t quite manage the full Roy G Biv of the spectrum colourwise, but did manage a suitably diverse mix of sounds featuring the majority of those rainbow colours and one or two more. As I write this, a blue tit swoops toward my window at rather excessive speed, but diverts before calamity – which is something of an aside, albeit containing a colour; no member of the Paridae family featured in the track list, though there were some yellow birds……

That gorgeous piece from New York pianist and composer David Moore‘s ensemble brought us to the end of the spectrum of sounds….Then it was on to medical matters in a sonic focus entitled ‘Let’s Get Medical’, which, it has to be admitted, came to mind as a variation on ‘Let’s Get Physical’, even though I couldn’t remember this as being an Olivia Neutron Bomb -sorry, (old record shop humour) that should be an Olivia Newton-John song.
So, to the dozen tracks which constituted the medical mix……

That warped delight from the Velvets second album, a track which actually makes you feel as if under the influence of some anaesthetic, brought a touch over sixty minutes of sonic therapy to an end. As noted after playing the pair, I couldn’t resist following The Revolutionaries quite upbeat, considering the title, Toothache with Earth‘s slab German Dental Work, a track which makes me wonder about Dylan Carlson‘s tour experiences in Germany…..
Til next time, wishing you many a healthy dose of sound, S.
