28/11/2016 TKS Presents: ‘Return to aQuarius’ tracklist

Better extremely late than never. The tracks from a tribute to iconic record store and community hub aQuarius Records, which closed it’s doors on Valencia Street in San Francisco after over four and a half decades there, and a couple of other locations in the city, serving those hungry for vital sounds.

The following nine gems are all from albums given the accolade of record of the week in the store’s extensive New Arrivals lists, sent out every couple of weeks to music fans around the globe….

1)The Heads – Spliff Riff (garage tape) /from the 2010 reissue of ‘Relaxing With…’/ Rooster Rock 1996
2)This Heat – The Fall of Saigon /from ‘This Heat’/ 1979, reissued 2006 This is/ReR MEGACORP
3)Thomas Edisun’s Electric Light Bulb Band – Red Day /from ‘The Red Day Album’/ 1967, reissued 2014 by Gear Fab Records – an album I’m sure I’d still be unaware of were it not for the glowing aQ review!
4)James Welburn – Shift /from ‘Hold’/ Miasmah Recordings 2015
5)Khun Narin Electric Phin Band – Lai Sing /from ‘Khun Narin Electric Phin Band’/ Innovative Leisure 2014
6)Skeptics – Sheen of Gold /from ‘Amalgam’/ Flying Nun Records 1990, reissued 2013
7)Marissa Nadler – Desire /from ‘July’/ Bella Union 2014
8)Aluk Todolo – 9.21 /from ‘Voix’/ The Ajna Offensive 2016
9)Oranssi Pazuzu – Valveavaruus /from ‘Varahtelija’/ Svart Records 2016

A monster track from the Finnish group seemed a fitting way to bring the tribute to aQ to an end.
